First poster of Bang Bang hits the internet

  • English
  • Arabic

Bang Bang, Siddharth Anand's forthcoming action-romance that was recently filmed in Abu Dhabi among other international locations, has a new poster online. It features the lead stars Katrina Kaif and Hrithik Roshan – who wields a gun that's just been fired, judging from the flames it is spewing – emerging from the sea in a spray of surf, surrounded by men on jet skis. Were the speeding jet skis shot on the capital's Corniche? Quite possible, considering that sections of the city's western waterfront were closed to traffic for a couple of weekends when the cast and crew were in the capital on a three-week filming schedule. Produced by India's Fox Star Studios and Abu Dhabi's twofour54, the film is a remake of Knight and Day (2010), starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Bang Bang is scheduled to be released in UAE cinemas on October 2. – The National staff

The Who plan tour and new music

Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are taking The Who on the road for a series of shows in the United Kingdom to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary. Daltrey referred to the tour as the start of The Who's "long goodbye" during a news conference on Monday in London. "We can't go on touring forever, but we don't know how long we will go on touring," the 70-year-old Daltrey said. "It's an open-ended kind of thing. We'll stop touring, I'm sure, before we stop playing as a band." The Who Hits 50 tour is set to begin on November 30 in Glasgow and wind up in London on December 17. Tickets go on sale on Friday in the UK. Townshend added that he's written three new songs and hopes to record them with Daltrey. The Who haven't issued new music since 2006's Endless Wire, their first release in 24 years. – AP

Amjad Ali Khan gets his sarod back

British Airways has returned a sarod belonging to Amjad Ali Khan after it went missing on a flight while the acclaimed musician was returning to New Delhi from London on Saturday night. The 68-year-old took to Twitter yesterday to announce that the instrument – which he has had for 45 years – was delivered to him by the airline. “Epic Reunion!!! BA delivers my Sarod. Thank you all for your prayers and love, especially the media ...,” Khan tweeted. Khan and his wife were in London on June 21 for a performance at Dartington College to celebrate the life of the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore. The couple travelled first class on the return journey on June 28. Khan had earlier taken to Twitter to rant about the airline for being “irresponsible”. – AFP
