DUBAI // Five men who drugged and robbed a used-tyre salesman were yesterday sentenced to three years in prison each.
Promising a business deal the men lured the salesman to the Islamabad Restaurant in Al Aweer Industrial Area where they spiked his drink with Lorazepam before stealing his wallet, which contained more than Dh9,000.
The man woke in Rashid Hospital where he had been taken after police found his unconscious body lying in the street on September 1 last year.
TT, 37, MA, 32, MT, 28, OD, 36 and MM, 29, all from Pakistan were arrested by police, who found more than 35 Lorazepam tablets and 769 other drugs in their possession.
Police believe they carried out a number of similar robberies.
They denied charges of endangering their compatriot's life, but were found guilty by the Criminal Court.
They will be deported after completing their jail terms.
