I am an expat woman and am afraid that my husband will leave the country and not come back. I need his signature on many government documents. What can I do?
In this event, your lawyer will need to draft an agreement between you and your husband before his leaving the country. This agreement will authorise you to sign on behalf of your husband on all government documents pertaining to your child. This agreement will be accepted by all government authorities provided it is adequately signed.
This contract or agreement between you and your husband would need to be signed in the UAE family courts. The average time for this procedure is between one and two months.
My husband is asking me to leave the house and is refusing to pay me any money. What are my options?
In the event that your husband is refusing to pay you any money, you have the right to file a financial support claim through the family courts in the UAE. However, such claims can take up to a year to be decided. In such instances, further to Article 68 of Law number 28 of 2005, it is advised to apply for an immediate court order for financial support to get expenses and money for the entire tenure of the court process until a decision is reached in the case.
It is also important to mention that you have the right to live in your husband’s home for three months after divorce if you do not have any children. In the event that you do have children, you have the right to demand to move to another house, provided by your husband, or to get the rental value of rented accommodation from your husband or former husband.

Maros Sefcovic is juggling multiple international trade agreement files, but his message was clear when he spoke to The National on Wednesday.
The EU-UAE bilateral trade deal will be finalised soon, he said. It is in everyone’s interests to do so. Both sides want to move quickly and are in alignment. He said the UAE is a very important partner for the EU. It’s full speed ahead - and with some lofty ambitions - on the road to a free trade agreement.
We also talked about US-EU tariffs. He answered that both sides need to talk more and more often, but he is prepared to defend Europe's position and said diplomacy should be a guiding principle through the current moment.

What you as a drone operator need to know
A permit and licence is required to fly a drone legally in Dubai.
Sanad Academy is the United Arab Emirate’s first RPA (Remotely Piloted Aircraft) training and certification specialists endorsed by the Dubai Civil Aviation authority.
It is responsible to train, test and certify drone operators and drones in UAE with DCAA Endorsement.
“We are teaching people how to fly in accordance with the laws of the UAE,” said Ahmad Al Hamadi, a trainer at Sanad.
“We can show how the aircraft work and how they are operated. They are relatively easy to use, but they need responsible pilots.
“Pilots have to be mature. They are given a map of where they can and can’t fly in the UAE and we make these points clear in the lectures we give.
“You cannot fly a drone without registration under any circumstances.”
Larger drones are harder to fly, and have a different response to location control. There are no brakes in the air, so the larger drones have more power.
The Sanad Academy has a designated area to fly off the Al Ain Road near Skydive Dubai to show pilots how to fly responsibly.
“As UAS technology becomes mainstream, it is important to build wider awareness on how to integrate it into commerce and our personal lives,” said Major General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief, Dubai Police.
“Operators must undergo proper training and certification to ensure safety and compliance.
“Dubai’s airspace will undoubtedly experience increased traffic as UAS innovations become commonplace, the Forum allows commercial users to learn of best practice applications to implement UAS safely and legally, while benefitting a whole range of industries.”
